Overview

The Hawza Studies Programme in Najaf is a unique and transformative five-year academic and spiritual journey designed for aspiring scholars, educators, and dedicated students of Islamic sciences. Rooted in the centuries-old tradition of the Hawza ʿIlmiyyah — the scholarly seminary system of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) — this programme offers a rare opportunity to live, study, and grow in the sacred presence of the shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin Imam ʿAli ibn Abi Ṭalib (peace be upon him).

The Mainstay Foundation is coordinating the admission process for the Hawza Studies Programme, which is held under the supervision of His Eminence Sayyid Mohammed Ali Bahr al-‘Uloom, a teacher of Bahth Kharij in the Seminary.

This intensive full-time programme aims to prepare committed students for a lifetime of service to their communities as resident scholars, lecturers, writers, and thought leaders within the Islamic tradition.

Why Najaf? Why Now?

The seminary of Najaf is one of the oldest and most revered Islamic institutions in the world. It has produced scholars who illuminated the Islamic world with knowledge, ethics, and justice. To walk its streets, to pray near the grave of the Commander of the Faithful, and to sit at the feet of its scholars is to enter a sacred trust — one that calls not only the mind, but the soul.
